One of the good things that came out of the pandemic is that it has highlighted the advantages of working from home (WFH). However, WFH does have its own set of disadvantages.
The biggest challenge is how to keep your focus on the task at hand and maintain your productivity!

👉 Eliminate distractions
People are designed to be easily distracted 👀
Back when our ancestors were living in caves, they needed to look up from what they were busy with so they could look around to see if there was anything dangerous or threatening, like a Sabre-Tooth Tiger or a T-Rex 🦖
We’re way beyond all that! But we still stop to look around.
In the process, our attention can get hijacked by something outside of what we’re doing at the moment. Not a dangerous animal but perhaps that new LV purse you want is on sale on Amazon? 🤗
A “Friends” episode you haven’t seen is being rerun on Netflix?
A catfight has erupted on Twitter?
You get the picture.
So if you are WFH, you need to be aware of this and make sure you get rid of anything that may prove to be a distraction!
👉 Invest in accessories
While you and your laptop are all it takes most of the time to get things done 💻 obtaining a few useful accessories can go a long way to boosting your productivity. For example, getting an extra monitor may mean that you don’t need to click on so many tabs to switch between screens and apps. You’ll be able to lay out all of your work in front of you, save on time and effort, and increase your output.

Make a list of accessories that can help you get work done more efficiently, then go out and get them!
👉 Take breaks!
This may sound counterintuitive, but to be productive you have to take regular breaks.
You need to replenish your energy and motivate yourself! 💆 💆♂️
Have you heard of the 52/17 rule? It’s the golden ratio of workplace productivity.
You work your tail off for 52 minutes, then take a 17 minute break. Some researchers were reviewing a time-tracking app called DeskTime and discovered that the most productive workers followed this work pattern!
👉 Set a goal
In his TED Talk, bestselling author Dan Pink explained the
importance of setting goals at work. 🥅 He said they help people define a vision of where they want to be and imagine a path of how to get there. Goals let people think about the meaning of their work and how it ties into the bigger picture.
They build accountability and let people measure their work ⚖️
Defining what you want to accomplish within a specific time gives you focus and direction and keeps your eye on the prize! 🏆
👉 Stay healthy
Of course, none of what we’ve mentioned so far will matter if you’re not in good health. Nothing zaps your energy and distracts the mind as much as having to deal with sickness 🤒
